Heriot-Watt emphasises career progression and flexible learning. The university specialises in science, engineering, design, business and languages. Some of the unique courses offered at the institution are Brewing and Distilling, Interpreting and Translation and Actuarial programmes, and all degrees are taught with practical learning as the main focus. Deluxe rooms are larger than the study bedrooms. In addition to the private bathroom, deluxe rooms also have a double bed, a larger study area, more storage and two armchairs and a coffee table in each room.
